What do you do??

Do you ever feel a sense of helplessness with your children? I think it's worse when you are adopting from a foreign country. Caroline is still sick and has yet to have a normal bowel movement. She has a horrible chest cold/congestion that is not getting better. After going to the doctor once, I think we are going to have to go back to get more medicine and a suppository of some sort. Her stomach is very bloated and she is now spitting up her food, which she has not done this week. I guess it has to come out one end?? My heart is breaking because I feel that in the pit of my stomach something bad will happen if I leave. I have extended my visit to make sure that I can get her healthy before I give her back to the foster mom. After all, the foster mom is the one who took her to the bad doctor and he gave her bad medicine. I am also very worried about our passport picture. We supposedly got our birth certificate on Friday and we should be able to get our passport done on Monday. However, I am now being told that it will take at least another week to do a simple process. EVERYONE says that it can be done the next day and I am not sure why ours can't be processed. What's the hold up? What's wrong with my case? Why is it being stalled? WHY? WHY? WHY? I wish that I had the answers, but of course, I don't. My mother instinct has kicked in and I feel very torn about what to do. I feel that if I leave, nothing will get done or it will take another two months to do what should be done in a week. Also, if I leave, I have concerns about Caroline's health. I can't stay because of the money factor (BIG one!!!) and responsibilities at home. My heart is torn because I know that there is not a right answer. Please pray for peace and for Tim and I to do the right thing.

I'm thinking about you and praying that Caroline gets to feeling better soon. I would definately take her back to the doctor, seems that something is just not right. As far as your facilitator goes, tell him that you'll go get her passport picture taken, if that would speed things up any. Tell him that I just got my passport in one day, why can't you. Unfortunately, I think you're going to have to get ugly with him. That's all that helped me get mine done quickly.
My heart goes out to you. Big hugs and call me when you get home.

Bethany...

I will definitely be praying for you! As far as the passports go, it only takes a few hours to have the pic taken, developed and in your hands ready for the passport office. Once you're at the passport office, it's a 30 minute step, and you have an official passport. A week? How about a DAY.

I would stay as long as you need to until you can get on that plane feeling good about your situation. Hang in there!

Bethany,
I know the money is stressful, BUT you can pay for it over time..... It will come. YOU KNOW God will send the way. My heart is telling me that you need to STAY and take care of all of this.....the money will work itself out. We are STILL paying for AP's adoption, and here we go again with Essie. Talk to Cynthia at the Marriott to get a cheaper rate. Move to a cheaper room there...... Move to the LaCasa Grande or somewhere else cheaper...... At least get that baby well and her passport done. You don't need him for that. Email me if you want/need Jorge's cell phone number. He would take you anywhere you need to go, and he knows everything in the process.

Order some glycerin suppositories from the pharmacy. Give her one everyday until she is back to normal. AP still goes through stages when she needs them..... I'm coming Friday if you need me to bring her some Miralax or something......

Bethany, I've been following your story almost daily. I wish I could do something to help you and Tim. Please know you've got so many people praying for you all. Please keep your faith strong, as I know you all are tired and frustrated. When you get down, just look at that precious angel and know that it is all worth it. This is all part of your test of faith. God wouldn't put you there, if he thought you all couldn't handle it. Stay with your baby right now, she needs you. Folks back home will understand. She will be well before you know it. Use the glycerin syp. -- they are safe and effective. I still have to use them with my 4 year old sometimes.
I miss you B - hang in there -- you'll be home with her before you know it.

Bethany I think about you all all the time. I hate that Caroline is sickand can't seem to shake whatever it is. Go back to the doc. and just pray about all the decisions you have coming. Like someone else said get mean w/ your fac and tell him you want things done or you will do them yourself. I had to do that a few times. Good luck and hope to see you next week.

Hi Bethany,
You are all in our thoughts and prayers. We hope that Caroline will be feeling better soon - and that you will be able to stay as long as it takes to get things straightened out. She looks so beautiful and we can't believe how big she's gotten since we were with you in September. All our best wishes & prayers, Maggie & family
