Halloween Sneak Peak

My mother sent us Caroline's costume this year. Caroline is obsessed with dogs, so my mom found this pink poodle costume for her. I tried it on her yesterday to just make sure it fits (nothing like waiting to the last minute!) and let her walk around outside in it. Caroline was so cute, as soon as I showed it to her, she immediately went "woof woof". She was fine with the costume until she realized that there was something on her head. She kept trying to "buck" it off! As you can tell in the pictures, she started crying until I took it off her head. The last pictures are my favorite! FREEDOM!!!

Just a little spookiness to start out the day...look closely and you can see the island in the middle of our lake!

I am out of here! RUN!!!!

Handy Information for going to Publix...

Yesterday, I realized that Publix had my couscous on sale 2 for $3. I had several 50 cent coupons (Publix doubles these), so I needed to go shopping. I loaded Caroline in the car (who is sick again!) and headed to Publix. When I get there, they are no longer on sale...What the heck?? I decide to buy them anyway...good deal with the double coupons. I ask the cashier when the sales go off and she says that their ads run from Thursday morning to Wednesday night! So, I missed out on my deals and learned a valuable lesson...go to Publix on Mondays after I look at the Kroger ads! :)

18 month old check up

We went to our wonderful doctor, Dr. Elaine, for our 18 month old check up on Wednesday. Caroline now weighs in at 26 pounds and 8 ounces and 32 inches long. She is still in the 75-90th percentile for height and weight. I was surprised to see that she really hadn't gained much weight since her 15 month visit. I was glad! :) She's getting so heavy to carry around! We have only had dogs before, so I compare her to lugging around a large bag of dog food! :)

Caroline is now saying "woof, woof" when she hears a dog or sees a dog! It's so cute! I am working on teaching her to show 1 finger for her age when asked. She did it for a few days, but I must have laughed, because now she just shakes her head, smiles and laughs.

I seriously need to stop reading the "What to expect during the 1st year" books because I think her speech development may be delayed. Her doctor keeps telling me that she is fine. But Caroline's not saying as many words as the books says she should be. Dr. Elaine keeps telling me that since she understands everything I say to her (direction wise and even does 2 step directions) that she's just holding back and will do a word explosion. I guess all first time moms deal with these anxieties.

A Day at the Park

We met up with one of our Mom's Groups this week for a day at the park. I had not taken Caroline to this park before, so I was a little nervous about how she would do. The slides and the equipment are much bigger than at Daddy's tennis park. Caroline was a champ. She loved the new park! I think that I will start making it a weekly trip for us. She has no fear and went down the big twisty slide! I was a nervous wreck, especially when she stepped off of it and ended up sideways coming down. I grabbed her right before she hit head first to the ground. Did that stop her? NO! She conquered it again, this time on her bum! :) We then went to the Truett's Restaurant (we live in Chick-fil-A land down here) and had a little lunch. Caroline noticed the train that goes around the restaurant and just squealed with delight! She looked for it everytime it rounded the corner. It was so cute.

Let's Go Krogering...

Since I have been staying at home, I have been more motivated to save more money using coupons and looking for great deals. I recently joined some online coupon websites and committed to this new journey. Today, Caroline and I went to Kroger to get some deals and I just had to share them! I got to the cash register and my total was $142. I swiped my Kroger Plus Card and the total went down to $136. I was a little bummed because I knew that I had saved more than $6. I looked down to give my coupons to the cashier when she said, "Oh my goodness! You just knocked your total to almost half!" After my Plus Card and my coupons, my total was $78. Take a look at my deals!!! I bought 6 packs of chicken breasts, 4 pizza rolls, 3 packs of carrots, 4 hamburger helpers, fruit (fresh and canned), 2 gallons of milk, kleenex, halloween candy, crackers, 5 packs of Goldfish crackers, et...! I ended up getting my frozen veggies for free and my pizza rolls for 30 cents! I'm still in shock!!!! :)

Yucky again???

This past weekend, Caroline was sick again with a high fever. She consistently ran about 101.5 to 102.5. It was not a fun weekend. We stayed home and just hung out. Caroline discovered the television (or rather Blue's Clues). She's not sold on it, but it did give us some relief for a bit. We also learned that when she's sick, she's totally a Mommy's Girl. Mommy is pooped out! I felt so sorry for her because he fever would get so high and then it would break. After it would break, she would be soaking wet! Poor baby! I'm so glad that she's back to her normal self and was able to return to school today. Yay for Mommy! Here are some pictures that I snapped of Caroline on Sunday when she was feeling better.

Shopping at the House

One of my former students, Sam and his mom, Melissa, gave Caroline this cool shopping cart. She has finally grown into it and LOVES it! She loves pushing it around the house, looking for bargains (just like her mommy)! The other day, the fridge was open and she helped herself to ketchup, mayo, and mustard. I guess she thought we were going to a picnic?? :) I also had to go to Target the other day to get her a new fall outfit. It was cool enough for her to wear it to school last Wednesday. So cute!!!

Football Fever

This is one of the dresses that I had taken to Guatemala with me back in February. Can you believe how much she's grown! My baby girl is turning into a toddler!!! YIKES!!

Getting Ready for Halloween

The weather is finally turning a bit chilly (no, not really), so that means we can bring out fall outfits! I bought this little dress for Caroline to wear for the month of October. I am not incredibly happy that it has witches on it, but it's so cute! I already call her my "little monster"! :)
