Down by the lake

Tim was mowing the backyard, so Caroline and I went out by the lake to keep him "company". She had a great time throwing pebbles into the water and watching the ripples. These pictures were hard to capture because she was constantly moving. Tim is really excited because now Caroline asks to go down to the water. She loves sitting on the large rock seats and looking at the geese, ducks, and turtles.

Super Savings Saturday...Publix (today)

I went to Publix tonight as well because I have a TON of coupons that I will be using which will produce a TON of overage. I started thinking and called Tutti (who confirmed my feelings) and decided that I would break up my transactions into two or three different ones. Why, you ask? I found out that Publix will only accept $50 worth of coupons before a manager must intercede. I was doing everything honestly, but didn't want the hassle. I was glad that I decided to go with this plan.
Transaction #1:
10- Goodlife Recipe Cat food- $2.25 each - (10) $3.00 MQ **Overage/FREE**
1- Huggies Wipes- $5.99 - $5.00 MQ
1- Perdue Nuggets- $2.20 - $1.00 MQ
2- Arm and Hammer Detergent- $3.99 each - (2) $1.00 MQ
2- Gallon Milk- $2.79 each
1- Canteloupe- 97 cents
Bananas- $1.47
Grapes- $.95
Used $5/$25 competitor coupon
OOP: $7.33
Savings: $76.62
I still have 12 more cat food coupons and I have some amazing Q's from BJ's to use. One includes producing a $6 overage and another one includes an $8 overage! We have been members of BJ's for about 9 years and the yearly cost is around $30. If I were to add up how much their coupons have saved me, I would have paid for my membership twice! The great thing is that many of their coupons are manufacturer coupons, which can be used anywhere! Because of this membership, I have gotten FREE wipes, baby shampoo, listerine, Splenda, pasta sauce, ice cream, vegetables, etc... Due to the overage of these coupons, I have gotten many other things FREE! Thank you BJ's!! So, if you combine the two coupons with the $5/$25 Q, we are talking LOTS of FREE groceries!!!

Super Savings Saturday...Kroger (today)

I went to Kroger tonight to take advantage of some of the great deals they had. Yes...we like sugar cereal! I did two transactions because I read that in Metro Atlanta, a catalina (free money on your next transaction) was printing out for Pillsbury biscuits. And now for the breakdown...

Transaction #1:
5- Pillsbury Biscuits- 4 for $4 and 1 for $1.25 - $.40 (5) MQ

OOP: $1.38
Savings: $6.60 (84% savings)

But, the great thing is that a $3.00 Catalina printed out towards my next purchase, which was immediate!

Transaction #2:
5- Pillsbury Biscuits- 4/$4 and 1/$1.25 - (mixture of 35 cent and 40 cent Q)
4- Capn' Crunch Cereal- 4/$10 but minus $4 at check out... - (4) 50 cent Q (doubled)
2- Quaker High Fiber Oatmeal- 2/$4 minus $1 at check out... - (2) $1.00 MQ
2- Peter Pan Peanut Butter- $2.00 each - (2) $1.00 MQ
1- Roast - $4.60 (manager's special)
1- Pita Bread- 79 cents (manager's special)
1- Almond Breeze Milk- $2.00 - $1.00 MQ (Thanks Tutti!)
4- Kraft Shredded Cheese- $1.66 each - (4) $1.00 MQ

OOP: $14.21
Savings: $38.10 (74% savings)

BUT...I received a $3.00 catalina from the biscuits AND a $3.00 catalina from buying the cheese! The 2nd "gift" was a surprise!!! Therefore, my biscuits and cheese were FREE!

Super Savings Saturday...Kroger (last week)

Sorry for the blurry picture. I was in a hurry to get home, put them away, and then Caroline had to be put to bed. Kroger was having the Mega 10 event sale. Because the Quaker Quakes (mini rice cakes) were on sale and were producing overage, I had 50 cents on each bag to absorb and then the extra $5 from buying 10 products (I had $10).
OOP: $2.58
Savings: $53.19 (97% savings!!)
I have also decided that I am going to try posting my deals whenever I get them. I am obviously having difficulty getting the pictures up on certain days. I do like the "catchy" titles, but life is already hectic enough for me!! ;)

Super Savings Saturday...Publix Trip 2

I can't find my receipt for this purchase but I can tell you what the prices were....

I can't find my receipt but I know that I spent less than $1.00 OOP at CVS! I had tons of $2/2 Wheat Thins and Ritz Crackers Coupons that were expiring. I also have $4.99 to spend on my next transaction. Great!!

I was looking in my picture files and was wondering what I was doing exactly one year ago today. Here is what I found... Without going into too much detail because you haven't heard Part 3 of "the story", these pictures were taken in my foster family's home in Guatemala. Yes, you read that right, in their home. I tracked my baby down, made a phone call, and went for a VERY SECRET visit. When we got there, I decided that I couldn't just hold her for an hour, I invited them (all of them) back to our house and they stayed with us for the night. It was exactly what I needed to help me keep fighting. It was the burst of energy that God gave me to let me know that He was still in charge of the situation. I will post more of the story at a later time.

Social Butterfly Pics

This is Caroline being silly in her pictures. She has just started to really smile when the camera comes out. However, she only smiles for me and will NOT smile for anyone else and their camera. Umm....???

Aquafina's Newest Spokesperson

Meet Aquafina's newest spokesperson! We were outside eating strawberries and Caroline had to have some water. Of course not just any water would must be AQUAFINA!!! LOL!

ALLERGIES and updates...

Allergies...gotta hate them! I was fortunate (if you can call it that) that last year I was hiding in Guatemala and didn't have to experience allergy spring season. Caroline and I both are suffering...BIG TIME! I swear, my head feels like it's going to explode and I can't stop sneezing. If I am feeling like this, I can't imagine how my baby girl is feeling. I texted her doctor yesterday with the symptoms and told her that I started giving her allergy meds and she was impressed! As a matter of fact, she told me how proud she was of me and that I was catching on quick! LOL!

Tomorrow I am participating in a Mom's Yard Sale. This is really the first "season" that I have had a full wardrobe to sell of Caroline's. It's kinda sad seeing ALL the clothes that she wore once or probably never even tried on! I decided that I was only going to keep the most important outfits and sell the rest, so wish me luck! I had a VERY difficult time pricing her outfits. Most of them were never worn. What's a good price? Do I price them to sell or do I price them at the price I would pay for them or do I price them a bit higher in anticipation of bargaining? ARGGGHHH, too much pressure! I am looking forward to making some money, decluttering my life and closets, and hanging out with friends. However, I am dreading sitting outside. I just know the pollen is lurking around, dying to cause me pain...could it be the meds I'm on?????

Frugal Friday for this week will have to be tomorrow and I'm going to call it "Super Savings Saturday". I got some great deals at CVS, Kroger, and Publix this week. I was going to go with Tutti to the Dekalb Farmer's Market tonight to get fresh produce, but since my head was pounding, I had to take a raincheck.

And now for a Tennis so far is going great! My partner and I have played two matches and we WON both of them! YAY!! We played a very tough match on Tuesday. Our scores were 6-7, 7-6, 7-5. Our first two sets went to tie-breakers! CRAZY!!!!!!! Our coach has been drilling in our heads...aim for the net opponent. SLAM IT at them and then pray they get out of the way! Well, after the second time of me literally hitting the girl, she was out for blood! She tried to take my head off! It's a good thing that I have fast reflexes...I was able to either move or hit it back! :) However, I did take a pretty horrible and scary fall during the 2nd set. I literally tucked and rolled diving for ball. I heard my racquet scrape across the court and felt my body land with such a thud that it scared me. My teammates began screaming. I knew when I went down that I was going to be okay, but just "sore". "I'm okay...just the pride is hurting." is what I yelled while looking at the starry sky. I was determined that we were going to win and the next day I would allow the pain to begin...

Pain it was...I got home at 11:30 that night (we started at 8:00) and then at 12:45 Caroline woke up. This was the first time that she has woken up in the middle of the night since we have been home. At 1:15, I finally went in to get her. I picked her up and brought her in our bed. Poor baby...she couldn't breathe due to her allergies. We then "slept" sitting propped up until 7:30. I asked her "do you want to get in your bed and go night-night?" "Yeah...yeah..." she replied. So I put her in her bed and CRASHED. At 9:00, she woke up crying again. I tapped Tim and said "Tag, you're it. I can't even open my eyes." So, Tim helped me out (TREMENDOUSLY) and let me sleep for another hour. Needless to say, my ENTIRE body was hurting!

So that should get you caught up on our week. I left out several things but you get the point. I will post again tomorrow but my next post probably won't be until mid-week. Caroline is getting her Easter pictures made on Monday and I will be frantically trying to find a dress on Saturday afternoon. Sunday, I have tennis, which means no shopping time. I'll let you know how her first portrait session went. I am excited because she gets to hold a real bunny!! I'm thinking...GREAT PIX!

Sidewalk Chalk Fun

I think we have a budding artist on our hands! :) Caroline LOVES playing with sidewalk chalk. She asks for it every time she goes outside!!

Pictures from Nana and Pepaw's House

These are just some pictures that I took while we were at my parents' house at the end of February. For some reason, I couldn't find my camera until the last day. They got about 4 inches of beautiful powder snow and Caroline was dying to go outside. Since, we hadn't planned for snow weather, we didn't have gloves, hats, or scarves. I layered her in leggins, flannel pajama pants and then blue jeans. She also had three shirts on and her coat. She looked like a little linebacker walking around. I swear she could have stayed outside for hours! I was ready to come in before she was! :)

I only went to Publix and Walgreens. I plan on running to Kroger tonight to pick up my FREE Quaker Quakes (mini rice cakes) or at least get a raincheck for them. Where oh where has Bethany gone? Where oh where can she be??

Yes, another long blog absence. I apologize to my faithful readers. No, we haven't fallen off the planet, we've just been super busy. I had a big party on Wednesday, a tennis match that night, a very unique meeting at Starbucks on Thursday, and a shopping date today. I have also been juggling more tutoring kids and still trying to find time to be a mom. Tomorrow, I will be attending Southern Savers Extreme Couponing 101 here in Atlanta and then off to a birthday party in the afternoon. On Sunday, I have my first official ALTA tennis match and then hopefully, life will resume to "normal".

Frugal Friday will be posted tomorrow with pics. This week wasn't a fabulous week for deals. I am not super impressed with next week at Publix either. I am looking to be inspired tomorrow. :)

Part 3 of "the story" is put on hold a bit. After writing parts 1 and 2, too many memories that I obviously haven't dealt are emerging. We have DVR at home and I have kept the Dateline NBC story on it since last January. I haven't been able to let go. Tim has been wanting to switch tv providers, but was afraid of how I would react with losing it. It's time. I need to heal and move on. So, we switched to Dish Network and said good bye to Teo.

On the homefront, we have been working (again) on potty training. I think this just might kill me! Forget international kidnapping's going to be potty training that is going to BREAK ME! More potty updates later...

I am exhausted but you can look forward to some great pictures tomorrow. I will also be sharing how I got to meet one of my blogging friends today in person! It was great! Pictures tomorrow!

The PERFECT Tennis shirt...

As you all may or may not know, I am an AVID tennis player. My ladies team will be playing a team this season that is not very honest with their line calls. I vote on getting this adorable shirt that pretty much says it all... "Are you sure?"
On the back it says "Just because you couldn't get it, doesn't mean it was out"
How funny! What do ya think???

Okay God...I hear ya!

I am a multi-tasker. I can do MANY things at once and still know exactly what someone is saying to me. As a matter of fact, it almost helps me stay focused. This morning in church, I just finished "My to do list ASAP". I was listening to the service (which was really good!) and then BAM! God slapped me! WHAT??? So after making my ASAP list, the next point was "Letting Go of you need to have That Item done ASAP?" WOW! So needless to say, I put down my pen and began to earnestly listen. Am I sure of what God was saying to me? No, not really...but I am listening...

RUN...Don't walk...RUN to Walgreens! You need to go to and print out your Huggies coupons ($5 and $3) and head to Wags right now! This week, the Huggies diapers are on sale for $10 and if you spend $25, they will print out a $10 Register Reward (RR) towards your next purchase. If you have already printed our your coupons, they have 'reset' and you can print out two more per computer! :)

I just bought 6 packs of diapers and 2 toothpastes for $15ish. I then received (2) $10, we are talking virtually FREE diapers! In order to get my diapers free, I used the Dove RR. I am now back to having $40 to spend at Publix plus I still have my $25 left for this week's shopping trips.

Yes, I posted a deal early because I wanted you to take advantage of it this week. If they don't have the sizes you need, buy what they do have and then exchange later. My store only had 3 packs of both sizes I bought. SO RUN!!!!

Frugal Friday...Walgreens

Last post regarding my Frugal Friday adventures. I'm not going into great detail about these transactions since I have been talking about them all week. Transaction #1:
One of the Walgreens stores that I don't really frequent had the Aquafina water on sale for $2.99. I bought 4! I also bought 8 Dove soap bars. I'm not sure what happened, but I had to return 3 and bought 5 more and then got a refund and then got another refund because he didn't use the 99 cent coupon and then I paid $8 plus received a $10 register reward (RR). Like I said, I was confused but the manager did it all.

Transaction #2

I then went to another Walgreens and bought some more goodies.

5- Splenda 100 counts- $2.99 each - (5) $3.00 Q FREE **overage
8- Dove Soap Bars- 99 cents each

Total- ? Recieved a $10 RR

I have gone back to Walgreens a few more times and completed some more deals (2) to include some deodorant and of course more soap. I now have (4) $10 RR to use next week. I was planning on using these at Publix, but now I am going to be using them at Walgreens to buy more diapers! Yuck! I will then use those register rewards to pay for my groceries the next two weeks at Publix.

Frugal Friday...Publix

So much for me saying that I was taking it easy on shopping this week! We aren't even half way finished! :) Like I said earlier, we had a slight mishap with coffee not only spilling on my cookbook, but on my receipts. So, I don't have the final costs of my Publix trips. I know that I had one transaction for 15 cents and the other was for $11. It was a GREAT week at Publix, even though I didn't get a ton of stuff!

I had some great coupon match ups this week that allowed me to get some overage on a few things. Gotta love those BJ club coupons! I also broke up my items into 2 transactions for 1 cent toilet paper. My lipton tea was free and so was my del monte tomatoes and tylenol. I was lucky to be able to use an expired $3 Publix Q and a $5 MQ for my diapers. I do regret buying my tea because I had planned on buying the green tea (which was not on sale) to make Tutti's Iced Green Tea Lemonade Recipe. But, since I live in the south, I see sweet tea in my future! LOL!

Frugal Friday...Target

Instead of getting a cortizone shot (talk about drilling for gold in your foot), I opted for oral steroids. It was a great deal for me! I found a coupon for $10 gift card at Target with a new prescription. So, I paid $4 for my meds and received my g.c.

Strawberries were on sale for 99 cents/pound, so I stocked up on them. I cut them up and froze them for smoothies! Yummy! I was also planning on making a green chili chicken soup, but then we had a mishap with coffee and my cooking that is what my chilis and pepper were for. Face soap, didn't use my free money at CVS, so had to use it at Target.

So with my gift card, I paid about $3.00 OOP! Another great shopping day!

Frugal Friday...CVS

I had to burn $17 in ECB's in one day. For some reason, I forgot about them and then realized they were expiring on the same day that I found them. Lucky for me! I felt that I did decent with my unplanned shopping trip, but I definitely could have done better. I wish that I would have bought some garbage bags and some face soap, but oh, well. Still not a bad run...

Of course, I have lost my receipt, so I'm not sure how much I saved, but I know my grand total was....

OOP: 85 cents

The coupon machine at CVS printed out a $3 Q off the Playskool diapers (which were already on sale) and on the package was another $1 Q. The Johnson's and Johnson's lotion and bath wash was on sale for $3 and I had lots of $2 Q that were expiring the next day. The lighters are for projects and grilling, and the sweets are for our sanity! :)

I received $5 ECB towards my next purchase, which I will NOT forget about!

Walgreens....I am in love with you!

I am not normally a huge fan of Walgreens, but do appreciate some of their great deals. This week, I have been to Walgreens 8 times! Yes, you read correctly...8 times! Now, each time I went I didn't necessarily buy anything, but just because they were sold out! I have pictures to post tomorrow, but there are some GREAT deals going on thru the end of March.

Take advantage of the buy 8 dove products and get $10 RR (register rewards) back. The Dove soap is on sale this week for 99 cents. BUT...the travel sized deodorant is 99 cents regular price. Buy 8 of them and get $10 back! BUT...use the $1.50/2 coupon in the Red Plum insert from 1/18 and get 8 for CHEAP! It's a no brainer!

Now, what do you do with the $10 RR? It's technically a manufacturer coupon, so it will scan anywhere. But, for sure, Publix takes them. I now have $40 in RR to use towards my groceries next week! I am not impressed with the sale at Publix this week, so I will probably save the majority of them and use them the next week.

Okay, so it's tax does this credit/deduction work???? Anyone want to be my wikipedia??? LOL

Publix Trip from last week

Last week was another semi-successful shopping trip at my favorite store...Publix! Why was it semi-successful? The cashier was in a foul mood and extremely rude! Funny thing is that she was a member of the customer service staff. Talk about customer service! Anyway...on with the details. I don't recall the majority of the details of the trip because I was out of town and now have lost my list. I do have my receipts to help jog my memory.

Grand Total: $30.98

Always check your receipts! I knew something was wrong when she told me the last total, but I couldn't figure out what it was. I should have stood there a bit longer, but with an impatient toddler and a rude cashier and bagger (my favorite guy was on lunch break), I just wanted out of there! ARRGG! I could have had an extra $6, but I guess I shouldn't be too upset with the total. I didn't have to buy my usual milk and creamer because we were out of town for 5 days. I still had milk left in the fridge for when we returned, so that helped cut the cost.

I also haven't had to buy meat lately, so that has helped on the savings a TON! It makes a difference in your budget when you finally get a good stockpile in your pantry.

Check back on Friday for several great Frugal Friday posts. I have bought a TON of stuff this week and was surprised at how far $40 stretched! :)

A Great Deal at Walgreens...

Walgreens has a hidden money maker deal this week. Buy 8 Dove Soap Bars and use the 99 cent Q in the ad AND you will get a $10 Register Reward back! I did it this afternoon and then turned around and used it at Publix to get free groceries. I will be going back tomorrow and getting 8 more soaps! We will be one clean family!!! HAHAHA!!!

Another delay in posts...we went home

Sorry once again for the delay in posts. Tim had to go out of town to Nashville for several days, so Caroline, the dogs, and me hitched a ride to go see my parents. We met up in Nashville and I went home with them. It was a good time, we were spoiled by homecooked meals, shopping trips, and not having to worry about ANYTHING! It was like a mini vacation.

We visited with my aunts, uncles and cousin Jetty. They gave Caroline the CUTEST outfits...a UK Cheerleader outfit and a UK warm-up suit! I joked with Caroline and told her she could have her choice of sports...whichever one was winning, she could wear that outfit! :)

My parents live in a remote town where the nearest mall is about an hour away. I haven't been to Paducah in about 6 years, so we decided it was time to go. Dillard's was having an AMAZING sale! It really made me miss the Dillards Kentucky sales. They were always the BEST! We then went to Gymboree where I picked up several outfits ranging from $1.99-$3.99 for next year! Can't beat those prices!

On Saturday we just chilled out and hung around the house. It was a good thing because we ended up getting 4 inches of snow! Caroline had a great time playing in it! She started crying because I wouldn't let her go outside immediately. She brought me her coat and shoes and sat down at the door until I would get her dressed! Too funny! I'll post pictures of this soon.

We met back up on Sunday to come back to Atlanta where we were greeted with more snow and ice! YUCK! I thought living in the south meant no more yucky weather! The snow and ice here just melt away and leave a gross mess and you can't really enjoy it. It's funny because the local schools were closed today and now (where I live) there isn't any ice or even snow left! Where we grew up, we never would have been out of school today! I've got to go get milk for Caroline...I wonder if there will be any left??? :)

Grocery Store Updates:
I'm not to excited about going and doing major grocery store shopping this week, so I think that I will pick up milk for Caroline and just some fresh produce. This week will be a great week to live off of our stockpile and save money. I still have plenty of chicken and ground turkey breast in the freezer, so we'll just figure it out. I do plan on going to Super Target to get strawberries for 99 cents/pound. I am going to freeze them and make them into smoothies for us, YUMMY!
I will post my frugal Friday sometime today from last week. I don't plan on going out of town for quite some time so all regular posts will resume.

Adoption Story Update:
I will be posting Part 3 later this week. I will also be giving you background information on our agency. I realized that after reading my the posts that our agency sounded somewhat decent, which WAS NOT TRUE! I want to make sure that you all understand that they were almost as evil (maybe even just the same) as Teo.

Shopping Trip:
I want to go up to Suwanee next week to a cute children's boutique that Tim found. They are having a tent sale. Not sure what the sale prices will be, but still want to go. Anyone want to go with me???? BECKY???????? :)
