We had a tax person actually do it for us, but what she did was do the regular child tax credit in the normal spot, then listed the adoption tax credit as "additional child" tax credit a couple of lines below it. When we were reviewing it, we were confused and asked. I know that's really vague, but maybe it helps?

Really you are better off paying someone to do your taxes the next couple of years. I only bothered to take in 1 receipt from my agency since you can only right off 11,640 and since we went way way way over that. Its going to take a couple of years to get it all back because you cannot get it all back in 1 year unless you had paid in alot more taxes then we did, we pay a ton but there's not that many of us. Plus we didn't get the stimulas check for Maya last year so I"m assuming you shouldn't have either so that gets you more money back, plus just plain writing her off now as your dependent, so hense it takes a couple of years to get allthe money back. I think you will get the most back if you just pay someone who knows what they are doing, there have been alot of changes this year so its really hard to keep up. Good Luck

Our agency fee was enough to qualify us for the full amount, so that was nice only having to have one receipt. My hubby did the taxes with Turbo Tax and it figured out the amount for him, it's written into the codes. Hope that helps!
